Katherina Markowskaja
Katherina Markowskaja was born in Kiev where she also graduated from the Ukrainian National Ballet Academy. Notably, she took part in performances of the Ukrainian National Ballet even while she was still a student. When Katharina was 16, she accepted Konstanze Vernon’s offer of a grant from the Heinz Bösl Foundation to complete her training at the Munich Ballet Academy. Immediately after her exams she was engaged by the Saxon State Opera Dresden under the leadership of Vladimir Derevianko who promoted her to Prima Ballerina after 2 years. In 1999 she was awarded the Mary Wigman Prize. In 2010 Katharina joined the Bavarian State Ballet as a freelance ballerina as a soloist, and stayed up to the end of the 2015/2016 season. She returned as guest ballerina for the 2016/2017 season.
Maxim Chashchegorov
The native-born Russian graduated in Dance from the St Petersburg Ballet Academy and joined the Mariinsky Ballet Corps immediately after his graduation. After his first guest appearance in Spring 2007 as Blue Bird in the Bavarian State Ballet’s rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty”, he joined them for the whole of the 2007/2008 season as semi-soloist, and from season 2009/2010 to season 2015/2016 as soloist. In season 2016/17 he returned to the National Theatre stage as guest dancer.
